Stalchildren are recurring enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. They appear only at night and tend to try attack by slapping and hitting Link. These are some of the weakest monsters in the Zelda series but when in swarms can be deadly.

Stalchildren appear as small skeletal figures with humanoid bodies and vaugely humanoid, almost animal-like skulls. They closely resemble Stalfos, but are unarmed and much more childlike. The eyes of Stalchildren glow orange-red, and they appear to wear small plateskirts. Stalchildren are weak and are quickly disposed of with a few sword strikes.

Ocarina of TimeEdit

In Ocarina of Time, Stalchildren can be found in Hyrule Field during the night when Link is a child, appearing the second the wolf howl sounds, provided the games mechanics allow it to. Stalchildren only appear if Link strays off the path, however if he is wearing the Bunny Hood, they will not appear at all. After Link defeats around eleven Stalchildren, a larger Stalchild will appear. This Stalchild is no stronger than a regular Stalchild. For every subsequent eleven Stalchildren defeated, an even larger Stalchild will appear.

Majora's MaskEdit

In Majora's Mask, Stalchildren can only be found in the Ikana Graveyard and the Oceanside Spiderhouse. Their behaviour and attack pattern is identical to the Stalchildren in Ocarina of Time, however if Link is wearing the Captain's Hat, they will not attack Link, and he can even give them certain commands. The Captain's Hat belonged to Captain Keeta, a giant Stalchild who was the original commander-in-chief for the Ikana Royal Family. In battle, he summons squads of Stalchildren to attack Link, and periodically creates walls of fire to slow Link's advance.
