"Be gone… Intruders…"
— Ghost Marowak

The Ghost Marowak is the restless spirit of a female Marowak who haunts the Pokémon Tower in Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, Pokémon Green, Pokémon Yellow, Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen. It is one of the many Ghosts haunting the Tower.

Story[edit | edit source]

"I hate those horrible Rockets! That poor Cubone's mother... It was killed trying to escape from Team Rocket!"
— Girl in Lavender Town

Prior to the events of these games, Team Rocket, a malicious crimnal organization, has been stealing the skulls of Cubones to sell. However, one of the young Cubones was protected by its mother. Team Rocket killed the Marowak, while the Cubone escaped. The ghost of the Marowak begins to haunt the Pokemon Tower, not allowing anyone to access the top floor.

In-game Behaviour[edit | edit source]

She disguises herself as a dark purple fog with large glowing eyes, sending her opponents into such fear they will refuse to attack. She will also avoid all thrown Poké Balls, even a Master Ball. To challenge her, the player must use the Silph Scope to see through her disguise and attack her. Even after this, she will still avoid Poké Balls. After defeating the Marowak, her spirit will be calmed and she will pass on to the afterlife.

Battle[edit | edit source]

After using the Silph Scope, she will appear as a Level 30 Marowak who knows the moves Growl, Bone Club and Leer in Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Green. She knows the moves Tail Whip, Bone Club, Leer and Headbutt in Pokémon Yellow, and the moves Headbutt, Leer, Focus Energy and Bonemerang in Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen.
